Cyberbullying has always been a part of children's lives. It is still a huge problem to this day where everyone is on electronics and is vulnerable to cyberbullying. Children may want to stop playing online games with friends and stop going onto social media because of constantly being harassed or bullied online. Cyberbullying has gone to the point where some people have gone into depression, changed their behavior, and changed their physical behavior, which is all major problems.

A reason why people should be prosecuted for their actions is that it is nearly the same as bullying and should also be treated the same. An effect of cyberbullying is depression, which is a mental health problem that can cause constant feelings of sadness and loss of interest in different activities. Depression affects the entire body, including the brain and the heart, which are major requirements for having a healthy body. Depression can happen at any age but may be different in teens and adults, such as having more serious consequences, and it will require a long time of treatment. Depression increases the risk of heart attacks, feelings of sadness, fatigue, and a weaker immune system.

People should be prosecuted mainly since it could lead to depression, which is something not to mess with. People who are affected by cyberbullies could display behavior changes as if they were bullied in real life. Some examples of behavior change could be skipping school or even using drugs or alcohol. While being affected by the cyberbullying school can be more than they could handle, which is a common effect. In a survey conducted in 2021, it was proven that people who have been bullied had at least 2 or more suspensions or detentions in the same year. There was a study conducted that was proved that people who were bullied also had a higher chance of involving alcohol or drugs by 2.5 times. This can prove that cyberbullying can affect others' behaviors in bad ways.

The final reason why others should be prosecuted for their statements made on social media is that it could affect the target's physical behavior. An example of this is sleep disturbance and eating disorders. Cyberbullying could affect how people sleep, which is a huge part of growing up and requires it to have a healthy mind. An example of an eating disorder is skipping meals or eating constantly. They do this because they feel that they lose control of their life and look towards eating as a solution. Cyberbullying could not only affect their behavior but also their physical health.

An example of why individuals should not be prosecuted for their statements made on social media is because a majority of people don’t usually mean what they say. Usually, there are other children who say these things like jokes, but they don’t know that others may treat it differently and take it as an offense. People usually joke around as a “prank” but they could still be jailed for their actions.

In conclusion, individuals should be prosecuted for their actions made on social media. It could leave a major impact on the target. It could be said as harassment and others are affected more mentally and physically. Cyberbullying is nothing you should joke about, and there has to be some punishment against it.
