A Good Teacher Essay Sample

Mentor. Guru. Instructor. The concept of humans is entrancing, it evokes fear in some and appreciativeness for others. But humans come and go, save an excellent, lifelong mentor, your teacher. For reference, Life is an elevator, with wholes of buttons. But of which is to be pressed, rests with you. A teacher will guide you through your early years and late years, helping you choose the button you will press. They are vital to our school learning environment and our academic achievement. But wait, why? What? How? It just doesn’t make sense to generalize the concept of teachers. But of the best I say, is a mystery uncovered, be it now. Gibberish? I hear you. Perhaps, let me explain. Personally, it is my long held belief that the qualities of a good teacher are a teacher who understands who you are as a student, who cares about you and your education, and listens to your concerns.

Of consequence, it is needless to say that a good teacher will understand you. Noteworthy however, "my dog ate my homework" is the revolutionary excuse that I am not in fact talking about. A teacher who understands will stick by you and however factually incorrect and "dumb" your question might be, will never tell you so. They take transformative action that you can make out of. Learn something from that question instead, and turn it into something . Get who you are. A teacher who understands doesn't just emphasize with you, they do something about it. They know how you learn and the teacher will know just what will aid you in your journey. Furthermore, a good teacher will listen to you. They listen to your concerns. Your misgivings. Your whines. They listen and wait for you to grasp a concept before trudging ahead, overriding Bill in the back.  A good teacher will always have time to hear their "report card" and what they can do to make your Berkeley education a little brighter. In comparison, a good teacher will always care. They won't dismiss you or neglect you, they will address your ideas and prove it to be merit-able. They care about your academic success and will do anything to ensure it. At Berkeley, it could mean giving that extra hour to a student, or showing them a shortcut. A personal connection. Something to remember. 

All in all, good teachers are around. They walk like the rest of us, and talk, and eat. But they aren't the only thing that matters. The students' intellectual ability and fascination for continuing fuels the fire that is inside them. Teachers only add. There will be teachers of mine who don't display every one of these qualities, but a part of being a good student is getting to know teachers who are different. Going back to the gibberish, what we know as a mystery of a good teacher, has been uncovered here today. But not all, as there is more to pull the reins off, each button at a time.
