Three feet long and two feet tall. This is a mammal, the red fox. Red foxes can have identification problems much as a person may, in fact, much like myself. Red foxes can be difficult to identify because they can appear similar to the gray fox, a distant cousin… Gray foxes can have red patches of fur and red foxes can have gray patches of fur. A curious thing really to ponder. Why are they not labeled as one species of fox if the fur is near the same and can be difficult to distinguish. One identity surely is simple, right?

Being solitary makes hiding or escaping people easy.

Red foxes have no problem blending into our changing environment. They actually adapted quite well. Perhaps better than I have. They have taken advantage of human developments. Red foxes enjoy staying at our parks, personally, I’ve not seen as many people at parks as say when I was a child. Glad to know someone still enjoys the park and outside world. Foxes just might be able to wander wherever they please without having to hide from people because people hardly know how to be people nowadays. Everyone is hooked on social media and stays indoors. We are solitary animals at this point. Some very well act it too. Whether they are like a fox hiding and knowing to escape people or they behave as a fox with rabies looking for someone to come across them and bite them. I got good at hide and seek.

We all adapt in our own way, I suppose. For better or worse.

Hearing provides more than just another one of your senses. Hearing provides us with truths and lies. Hearing provides us with one's true character. Sometimes that one doesn’t even know you heard… I like to think of myself as a fox. Good at hide and seek. Knows when to escape. Knows how to escape. Oh and the red fox has excellent hearing as do I. However, red foxes can hear low-frequency sounds, if that is not yet impressive, they hear rodents digging underground. While I can not hear rodents digging underground, I certainly can hear a different rodent showing their true self in the shadows when they think there's no fox in the hiding. That rodent provided just what I needed.

Having such good hearing truly is a survival perk though. It helps you know when to leave a surrounding and become a zorro solitario.
