Solar Energy is energy from the sun that is converted into thermal energy or electrical energy. Solar energy is the most abundant, renewable energy source available. Solar Power is an excellent alternative energy, because it’s renewable, low maintenance, and is available anywhere around the world.

Solar energy has many advantages, some advantages include low maintenance costs and diverse applications. Solar panels don’t require a lot of maintenance overall, the main maintenance is keeping the panels clean, this is offered by cleaning companies for very cheap. Solar power has diverse applications, Solar panels are available to those who live off the energy grid, having solar energy in these places can help to distill water in regions with limited clean water supplies. Solar power is easy to pay for after the initial cost, this is also easy

Though Solar energy also has many disadvantages, for example the initial cost and that solar power is weather dependent. The initial cost of solar panels is finally high, this includes solar panels, interveter, batteries, wiring, and installation. Though the prices are very high now, technology is developing rapidly so prices will most likely go down in the future. Another disadvantage is solar power is weather dependent, this means that the efficiency of the solar system drops during cloudy and rainy days, but can still be collected. The only time that solar energy can never be collected is during the night. Though the initial cost can be intimidating, most costs after are very cheap, solar power being weather dependent is an inconvenience but it wouldn’t take a lot to get used to and there are a lot of ways around it.

The environmental impacts of solar power consist of increases of pollutants and solar waste and decrease of greenhouse gas emission. Solar panels last about twenty-five to thirty years, since they can’t be conveniently recycled as of now, they commonly get discharged into landfills. The toxic chemicals which can be found in solar panels, like Cadmium can be released and washed out with rain water, this ends up leaching into the soil and polluting the surrounding area. Switching over to solar power from fossil fuels which could dramatically decrease greenhouse gasses, particularly carbon dioxide. Solar Panels cause pollution but it also causes a decrease in greenhouse gasses.

Human Health is affected by changing to solar power, they have hazardous materials within the solar panels, however there will be less pollution with changing to solar power. During the manufacturing process workers are exposed to hazardous materials, workers are exposed to chemicals like hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, nitric acid, and hydrogen fluoride which can affect workers health. Changing to solar power will reduce the amount of pollution that coal and natural gas plants produce in the air, this will reduce respiratory and cardiac health issues, along with many other illnesses. The process of producing solar panels is more dangerous for workers but solar power is also a less dangerous way of producing energy to many more people.

Solar power has many advantages, but it also has many important disadvantages that can’t be looked over. Environment health and human health are very important to current time and future time. Solar panels are the safest option to produce energy in current time, it will benefit the earth and humans, as more people and companies take on solar energy, it will be easier to make the changes that we need to solar power to make it better for everyone.
