Sports coaching is a job that prepares athletes for success in their chosen sport. The most important part of a coaches job is to plan and organize practice sessions to analyze an athlete's strengths and weaknesses and to educate and teach players about proper techniques and game strategies. At all levels of coaching, coaches work with their players to develop game plans and plays specific to offensive and defensive players, designed to defeat their opponents. They also help them improve their team working on the team chemistry. This could be done by doing team bonding which is a great way to get teams to work together. The amount of money spent on sports, by individuals and governments globally is huge. Sport is big business. It's where the best athletes come to compete, to see who can reach their peak performance quicker than anyone else. Coaches all over the world are starting to find new ways to train athletes in order to gain that winning edge against their opponents.

But what really is a coach? A coach is a person who trains and instructs a sports team or individual players.

Sports coaches often have different approaches to training athletes. In some cases a coach may want to focus heavily on scoring and not so heavily on defense. So a coach may make players practice scoring more than defending. Or maybe the coach wants to focus more heavily on defense, So they make their players work on guarding and defending. The former uses a strategy to gain the most points possible, while the latter focuses on stopping the other team's offense from scoring. These are two very different approaches, but both of them work depending on the situation.

Since the early days of sports coaching, a lot has changed within all elements of sports. Coaching strategies have evolved from treating athletes like robots to get the best out of them and do whatever it takes to get results. Coaches treat their athletes like human beings with feelings, emotions and thoughts. Coaches look at things from an athlete's point of view, not just the coach's. Coaches do not see their athletes as numbers they treat

Their athletes as people with feelings and emotions. Coaches focus on the athlete's experience within their sport rather than just getting numbers on a scoreboard. Coaches want to involve athletes in all decisions that are made during training sessions, making them feel valued and wanted. Coaches have advanced into being more supportive of their athletes to avoid any meltdowns within training. Coaches want to be more organized, with quality results leading to a positive experience for athletes and coaches alike. Coaching strategies have moved away from simple soldiering, and running to having an element of fun in their sessions. Coaches strive for a balance between work and play, this allows the athlete to stay healthy while performing at their best. Coaching strategies have evolved to promote safety, allowing the athletes to have a better experience in sport, making them come back. Coaching today has grown into a profession that requires extensive training and certification. Coaches can begin their careers as volunteers and work their way up through the ranks of the coaching world, until they reach positions such as head coach or director of sports. Coaching is also a high-paying profession; for instance, the average salary of a professional American football coach is US$3.0 million. Sports Coaching is becoming a more important part of athletics as the world becomes more oriented around youth sports. Coaches are now needed for younger and younger athletes, especially since the idea of playing multiple sports has become popularized. Coaching children early can help them develop skills that they will use throughout their lives. Coaches need to be able to help their athletes focus and strategize in order to reach peak performance. Coaches need to be able to watch the athletes they coach and provide feedback on how they can improve their game, but also understand the personal development aspect of coaching today's youth. Coaching is something that has drastically changed over time. Coaching has been around since the beginning of sports. Coaches have been there from the beginning of time to help their athletes, both recreational and professional alike. Coaching is a very broad term that can encompass a range of activities from more casual coaching at a club level all the way up to the NFL and NBA coaching.

What does it take to be a coach? Coaching used to begin as an apprenticeship; but nowadays, coaching is more of a profession with an increasing number of coaches holding degrees in sports science or similar disciplines. Coaching careers are widely available. The National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) is the official Coaching education program for sport organizations across Canada, although some provinces such as British Columbia have their own Coaching education programs. Coaches can be endorsed with a Coaching Certificate for coaching Olympic-style sports or a Coaching Development Certificate for coach development in the community, school or club setting.

Both coaches and trainees must complete coaching courses that cover ethics, sports laws, first aid and CPR, psychology of training, safe sport practices and basic training techniques. Coaching courses take 1–2 days. Coaches must also complete a Coaching Program and Coaching Role Specific Training (CPR, First Aid, Concussion Management) every year. Coaches turn in attendance records to their governing bodies to show that they have completed their Coaching Education requirements. Coaches also have to complete a Coaching Program, which is a one-time requirement that includes coaching philosophy, sport performance standards and rules knowledge. Coaches have to be aware of the rules, regulations and policies that apply to their sport so they can communicate those with their athletes. This includes a variety of topics such as doping control, doping sanctions and testing, major events and other related organizational issues. Coaching licenses are issued by various associations and academies. There is no specific qualification or certification required for coaches to become a coach in the USA. A Bachelor's degree in physical education is considered an asset but not a requirement.

In conclusion, Coaching is an extremely rewarding experience. Coaching is not just about teaching someone how to play a sport well, but it's also about engaging with a player and building up their skills so they feel more confident in themselves. Coaching can bring out the best in people. It can be satisfying helping anyone improve at something, especially if they enjoy it. Coaching can have a lasting impact on people, especially when they grow in their passion for the sport. Coaches are mentors to many young players and can teach them valuable lessons that will stay with them throughout their lives. Coaches are also continually learning new things; this challenges coaches to get to know themselves better and learn how best to transfer their knowledge to their players and teach them lessons about life they will never forget.
