Essay Sample on Animal Testing

Animals have been tortured by people in laboratories throughout history and almost all suffer and die every year from animal testing in the U.S. The act of testing on animals is unnecessary and cruel. Animals are being put through this and the tests aren’t always effective and can show different results on humans than animals. It is inhumane for innocent animals die for our needs and wants and it should not be happening.

Instead of testing on animals there are better options created to help prevent animal cruelty. “A mass of skin cells specially grown to form a thin layer like that of humans corneal, potential to completely replace the cruel rabbit eye irritancy test” (Bidnall). Testing should rather be tried on people who volunteer and willing to take a chance then on animals who didn’t have a say of what people are allowed to do on them. Humans would not want to be randomly taken from their home without a choice and be tested on and neither do animals, but they don’t have a choice and its immoral.

These tests aren’t always as effective or work the way they are intended. “Drugs that are effective in animals fail in many humans” (Chandrasekera 4-8-19). As a result of the tests not turning out the same many medicines have been harmful to humans. People think that that the tests always come out true but they can be hugely misleading and ultimately fatal. Even if a product harms animals, it can still be marketed and sold to consumers.

It is cruel and unkind to make animals be tested on without their will and nowadays people think it’s ok and normal. “They languish in pain, suffer from extreme frustration, ache with loneliness, and long to be free” (Peta). Everyday some new test is done on them, and they must take it. People don’t realize that animals can feel pain just as much as they can that’s why they think the animals don’t mind it. 

Some feel that if the tests are done on animals, they don’t have to worry that its harmful to them. Although people feel this way, it is normally not correct. Humans are different then animals afterall, so that means it’s not going react the same. People wanting products for themselves like shampoo and makeup does not justify animals’ pain and suffering.

Animals are being tortured and harmed every year for humans that want what they think are more safe products. It is harsh and vicious for them to be neglected and people just let it go as if it’s fine. It is not okay for animals to be put through the challenges of animal testing for humans who only care about what happens to them.
