Selena Gomez is a famous spokesperson, recording artist, award-winning television star, and movie star. Selena started her career as an actress at a young age from there moved on to many Disney Channel shows and movies and other nondisney movies as well. Not only is Selena famous for acting, but she's also famous for her kindness and singing. Selena teamed up to save homeless animals, she was an ambassador for the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), and she has been a spokesperson for several organizations that promote the importance of health, safety, and making a difference in the world. Selena also formed a band and many albums. Selena Gomez is great in many ways and she did a lot of stuff in just so many years of her life. 

Selena’s big start

Selena Marie Gomez was born on July 22, 1992, and she lived in Grand Prairie, Texas. Selena's mom Mandy Cornett, and her dad, Ricardo Gomez, were very young when she was born. Mandy was only sixteen and Ricardo was seventeen. Eventually, they got married. Since Selena’s parents were still in high school, Selena's grandparents helped take care of her. When Selena was only 5 years old her parents divorced. Selena's mom liked to act in local plays. Selena usually tagged along to watch. Selena would watch the actors perform and that's when she decided she wanted to be an actor as well. When Selena turned 7 she tried out for a role on the Kid’s Tv show barney & friends. And Selena got the role of the girl named Gianna. After 2 years on the show, she got too old and got kicked out.

Selena’s huge jump

Selena had to start looking for more acting careers. Selena first got a small role in the movie spy kids 3-D: game over. Selena then got a small part in the television movie Walker, Texas Ranger: Trial by fire. Selena was on the show Wizards of Waverly place from 2007 to 2012. She also starred in the movie Another Cinderella Story In 2008, she did voice-overs for the movie Horton hears a who. Selena filmed Princess Protection Program in 2009 for the Disney channel. Selena then filmed Wizards of Waverly place the movie. The Wizards of Waverly place show has won many awards, including an Emmy for Outstanding Children’s Program in 2009. Selena won the Teen Choice Award for Choice TV Actress, Comedy. She also won the kid's Choice blimp award from the Nickelodeon television network for Favorite TV Actress. Not only was Selena acting a lot While Selena was in Puerto Rico She and some friends teamed up with DoSomething.org and went out to find homeless puppies and sent them to animal shelters for adoption. Selena sang for her other shows and movies now she's expanding her music career and formed a band called Selena Gomez & the scene. Her first album was called Kiss and Tell. Next came A Year Without Rain. Selena also starred in the movie Ramona and Beezus. Then Selena released her third album, “When the sun goes down”. 

What is Selena doing now?

Selena is currently still alive. And she is in the show Monte Carlo. She's playing a girl from Texas named Grace Bennet. Now that Selena is grown up she is in more mature shows but she is not totally done with childhood shows yet. In 2012 she voiced the girl named Mavis from the show Hotel Transylvania. Then in January 2012, Selena announced that her band was parting ways probably for a while. After making 3 albums in 3 years she felt it was time to go back to her film career. Selena chose 3 mature roles for her film projects. In 2012 she will go on the movie spring breakers. Then Selena will go on the black comedy feed the dog. After that in 2013, Selena will play a woman on the run. An action-thriller getaway.
