The Bill of Rights is the first 10 amendments in the constitution that guarantees the civil rights of a citizen in the U.S.A. It guarantees freedom of speech, press, religion, and more. And yet many people today are fighting for their human rights in America. Many in the U.S., usually POC, LGBT+ members, and women, basic human rights aren’t respected or acknowledged. And that’s what the Human Rights First organization is fighting against. Human Rights First is an organization that challenges the American government to stay true to the constitution is made and tries to make a difference throughout the world, in the places that they can bring the best amount of American influence to secure freedoms for all: “We believe American leadership is essential in the global struggle for human rights, so we press the U.S. government and private companies to respect human rights and the rule of law. When they fail, we step in to demand reform accountability and justice. Around the world, we work where we can best harness American influence to secure core freedoms.” (humanrightsfirst.org) Human Rights First was established in 1978 in New York City, now having two headquarters in NYC and Washington D.C.

HRF (Human Rights First) is a worthy organization to help and invest in because of its endless determination to bring peace and the need to respect every person's human rights. And as far as bringing awareness to their cause, it seems they’re doing an amazing job at it since The Charity Watch organization gave the charity an A. Charity Watch gave the organization an A based on how much they spend and give for good and charitable reasons. Humans Rights uses 18% of the money it earns for overheated costs and uses the rest (82%) to help those in need of their support. The organization also passes all Governance and Transparency policies meaning its committed to demanding accountability from the public.

HRF was created in 1978 to help fight against global issues such as racism and to demand justice for the wrong the U.S. and other countries' governments have caused. These problems are always on the news and more and more seem to keep arising. Much of France’s government have recently voted to ban Muslims from wearing their Hijabs or any type of face-covering, Black citizens in America are experiencing extreme police brutality among other places in other countries, Asians are being assaulted and harassed out on the streets for absolutely no reason, LGBT+ members are being pushed out by their unsupportive and uncaring families, Anti-Romani racism is increasing in Europe due to COVID-19 and it's all being ignored. The list doesn’t end. That list stands for everything that Human Rights First is fighting against and is trying to get justice for the victims who have experienced the discrimination and harassment they’ve faced, while also making world governments hold themselves accountable for their actions (and hopefully reform their government into a more equal one and one that respects a persons’ human rights). The Human Rights First team is actively trying to impact governments to do better and to help those that faced injustice and violations against their human rights. They’re trying to change the world for the better. Over 77 million dollars were spent by HRF for public support and revenue, over 14 million being spent just on public support and 60 million being spent on contributing program services. Nearly 69 million were spent on their program services like refugee programs, national security, foreign policy, and more. HRF truly cares to help people get what they naturally deserve. And it might not be able to change the world on their own, but they’re definitely making a difference for both individuals and families.
