Laughter is sometimes great for helping your body. It’s been said that laughter and humor can help you release stress, ease pain, help your heart beat stronger, and many more things. Along with helping your body it can possibly help you feel happier too. 

According to Mayo Clinic¹, short-term benefits from laughter can help enhance your oxygen intake and can help stimulate your organs, as in your heart, lungs, and muscles. It’s also stated that the long-term effects include improvement of your immune system. Negative thoughts can manifest into chemical reactions that can potently affect your body with creating more stress which could lead to your immune system decreasing. Positive thoughts and humor can help release more of what you need to fight off illnesses. Laughter can also help our hearts beat stronger, our blood flow more briskly and more oxygen is delivered to our cells.

It’s also said that laughter can make it easier to cope with difficult situations, and can help you connect with people more. It can also help lesson your stress, depression, or anxiety, along with possibly making you feel happier. Mayo clinic¹ has also said that that it can help better your self-esteem. Laughter can also help ease pain by causing your body to create its own ‘painkillers’. 

Some hospitals have ‘hospitals clowns’ to help reduce stress and anxiety levels in hospitalized children and their parents. Nursing homes have something similar to that too, Elder Clowns go there to help reduce agitation and increase happiness in the patients. Another thing that is used is humor therapy, which has led to improvements in learning abilities. It’s also helped facilitate digestion, increasing oxygen supply to muscles, a decrease in muscle tension, and has promoted a sense of well-being.

Laughter can be helpful with your health. It’s helped you release stress and ease pain. Hospitals have even hired ‘Hospital clowns’ to reduce the stress in children who are hospitalized there and in their parents, and nursing homes hire ‘Elder Clowns’ to reduce agitation and increase happiness in their patients. There’s even humor therapy which can help increase oxygen supply in your body and helps decrease muscles tension. Laughter is great for your body in many different ways.
