Did you know that over 110 million animals each year are burned, cripplied, abused, and killed in US laboratories? Since as far back as the 17th century, animals have been used in scientific experiments. These experimentations are used to test certain products on animals to see if they are safe for human consumption. They inject chemicals and products in these animals and only around 3% of the animals actually survive these lab testings. For all this suffering, the majority of the time, these tests do not even provide accurate information. Animal experimentation is morally as well as ethically wrong and should be banned.

To begin with, animals should not be experimented on because it is cruel and heartless to abuse these poor innocent creatures. Millions of animals are taken from shelters to be locked in crates awaiting their death. The stress of the situation causes the animals to neurotic behavior like pulling out their own fur and biting themselves. Some of these tests include inhaling toxic fumes, eating pesticides, and putting chemicals into an animal’s eyes. These animals endure so much pain and suffering for little to no accurate results. In some cases, even if a product harms an animal during testing, it will still be marketed to consumers. Animal testing causes many animals to endure a life time of pain for little reason. This abuse needs to be stopped and the cruelty behind this corrupt system needs to be exposed.

There are many other forms we can use to see if products are safe instead of animal testing. Scientists have developed humane, modern, and effective alternatives to testing on animals. Some of these methods include organs on chips, organoids, sophisticated tests using human cells as well as tissues, and human based microdosing. Yet still with all these alternatives, over 100 million animals are killed. There are so many other methods that we can use instead of this merciless testing. These other methods are cheaper, faster, and provide more accurate results than just animal tests. This new approach on testing can not only help save millions of animals, but it could also improve the safety of humans.

Many argue that testing on animals is necessary in order to get the most accurate results on the safety of  products for human use. However, the differences between humans and animals are just too great to produce any meaningful results. Recent studies show that 95% of drugs that are shown safe on tested animals fail on humans. This is clearly demonstrated by looking at the history of  cancer research and testing. Scientists have cured cancer in mice for decades, but it simply didn’t work in humans. Since the percentage of accurate results is not very high, the product will still most likely not be safe on a human even if it was deemed safe on an animal. Even though people say that animal testing is neccesary for are own safety, it doesnt even provide the meaningful results we need to keep us safe, there is not a point to kill these poor animals.

Many animals go through the suffering of animal testing to cause more harm than good. Using animals to test safety for products is pointless due to it costing a ton of money, killing millions of animals each year, and not even providing accurate results. Yet, even though there are alternatives many brands and companies still test on animals. Hence, animal testing is aimless and unneccesary since there are superior more effective methods that do not cause pain amoung animals. Next time when washing your hair think, was this worth an animal’s life?
