Gaming: one of the most popular hobbies for minors. It is popular and great, but it can also be dangerous. Therefore, there are various restrictions in the game world and about how long teenagers should game. In China alone there are already 720 million gamers. This says a lot about how many gamers there are in the world: 3.24 billion. The Chinese government has just entered new limitations about gaming for teenagers and children. Their new rules state that minors are not allowed to game on schooldays, and they are limited to only one hour per day in the weekend and holidays. This means they are totally banned from gaming on schooldays and this way there is a 'game curfew' for the minors. It is weird to think other authorities than the parents can classify the personal spare time of the minors. This is unacceptable, and it shouldn’t be the government who decides this for the children.

First of all, it is not the government´s job to take decisions about minors. Children and teenagers´ parents should decide things as the game time for them, since they are the ones who know their children the best. They know how much time their children spend on gaming sites or apps and if they have their homework done. It is adequate to get the minors a limit on how much time they can have to play games, but they should not be totally banned from gaming on schooldays. When the children and teenagers did their homework, they also deserve to have time spending things they like. It should not all be about school, as that could also cause stress. Chinese parents want to push their children to the best, which is understandable, but this can cause several mental illnesses like depression, anxiety, psychosis, panic attacks, etc. That is why the minors deserve to have free time spending it on games yet with a limit set by the parents.

Secondly, the game industry is going to be severally damaged by these new rules from the Chinese government. Gaming is favoured enormously in China and the rest of the world. One of the reasons gaming is so popular is because it is affordable for everyone. There are many games which don’t need any form of payment, and this makes it accessible for everyone. Nowadays the games look very realistic and it's modern which also contributes to its popularity. Besides, the games are available in every choice. There are games about every hobby which makes one able to choose whatever he/she likes. Also, there are many options to play with friends or other people around the world. These are several reasons why gaming is so favoured. In some countries it is more popular than in others, but globally there are 3.24 billion gamers. Only in China alone there is already a percentage 62.5 % of the minors who game. Since there are so many children and teenagers who game, there is an enormous game industry in China. When the minors are not allowed to play games anymore, there will be a decline in the numbers of downloading and playing games. This is not favoured by the game brands, because they will lose finances. Shortly, the new rule of the government will influence the gaming industry in a negative way.

However, there is also a threatening side of gaming. Being too much online will have a negative influence on the health. According to the University of Harvard, studies show that gaming is often associated with aggression, anxiety, insomnia and sleep deprivation. There even is a gaming syndrome: IGD. This stands for Internet Gaming Disorder. Yet, there isn’t a treatment for this disorder but researchers are working on it. The gaming could also be damaging the children their sight. This because they are looking at a screen close to their eyes for a long time. Despite, gaming also has its benefits. Though gaming, many people find new individuals they have things in common with. Human-beings with the same hobbies for example, or maybe the same favourite book. Minors who game also are better problem solvers. Researched have proved that children who game, solve problems more secure than minors who don’t game. And like this, there are many more benefits of gaming. Overall, there are advantages and disadvantages to gaming.

Concluded, the government is not the right authority to determine the game limit for minors. The ones who should decide this are the childrens' parents. This because parents know their children better and they are the ones who notice how their minors react to gaming. Additionally, the gaming industry would leave behind finances when the minors don’t or hardly play games. This way the industry would be enormously damaged. It is a fact that gaming could be a threat to one's mental health, it could damage the sleeping pattern or cause other disorders. However, this is not just with gaming, the mental health could also be influenced negatively by other things. Also, gaming has their advantages. This way gaming is not always as unpleasant as many adults might say. The children and teenagers don’t deserve to be controlled by the government, although the minors' parents could set a time limit for the games.
