Most kids these days don’t really like school but have you ever wondered if there was a difference between public school and online school. While public school and online school are the same in that they both teach you important information and you can talk with your teachers, they are different in that they both have different views of flexibility, independence, and student interactions. 

There are many characteristics of public school, why public school is different from online schooling. One thing that public schools have is a strict schedule, for example, most public schools in the U.S starting from 7:30 am to 3:00 pm in the afternoon. During these school hours, kids can’t just take a break from school and start again. Public school lasts around 8 hrs and you have to be present during these hours. Another characteristic of public schools is that they have lots of people to depend on for different things. In lots of public schools, kids do group projects and debates with other students. A lot of times in public school kids aren’t as independent with school work because they have teachers constantly in class with them making sure they are on task.  Lastly, public schools have lots of student interaction. In public school, kids are constantly interacting and communicating with one another, whether it’s in-group projects, or in the lunchroom. Even after school kids are participating together in school clubs and sports. So, public schools have many reasons that differ from how things are done in an online school.

The main features of online schooling are both similar and different to public school. Something that online schooling does that is different from public school is their looser schedules, for example, kids can rearrange their schedule if they are busy on a certain day. During online school and public school, both students still have to do their school work, but online school is more flexible for learning. Another reason online and public schools are different is because of their difference in being independent. Although in both types of schools you learn information, online school is more independent because teachers aren’t there with you to tell you to get back on task. Also, students that do online school have to be more independent with their school so they can get their work completed. A final example of how both online and public schools are different and similar is their student association. Even though kids who do online school can chat with other students in chatrooms, they can’t verbally speak face to face with another kid which is very different from public school. In the end, online schooling has both similarities and differences from public schools.

While online and public schools both have their differences, they also have many similarities that are beneficial to students learning. Both types of schools are similar and different whether that is in there, flexible schedules, their student interaction, or being independent or dependent on others. In conclusion, both types of schools benefit students and help them get an education, so whether you choose to do online or public school they both are great.
