Animal Rights And Animal Welfare Essay Sample

In my truthful opinion, I believe that it is definitely not wrong to focus on animal welfare, especially when humans have their own struggles, as they are beings who inhabit the world next to us; therefore, they have to experience the consequences of human acts, whether it is war or lack of care for the ecosystem. Moreover, there are two significant reasons why we should actually care for animals’ well-being: our actions have a direct impact on them, but most importantly, we could not be able to live the way we do without them.

Firstly, whenever humans are on war, some operative places to attack are located in the wilderness. To illustrate, in Colombia, guerrillas used the jungles and forests as refuges, so it would be difficult to find them. Thus, wild life that lived in these places were displaced. What’s more, there was an interesting situation that occurred during the lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic: some animals regained land they had been displaced from, and there were sightings of wild life in cities such as Bogotá.

Secondly, we, as humans, need to acknowledge the great impact that the extinguishment of species has and will continue to have in our lives while we still live on Earth. One of the most renowned examples is the upcoming, but preventable, extinction of bees; we all have heard about it. If bees go extinct, no one will pollinate crops species, then these crops will not feed anything in the world, which will lead to a terrifying end for everything on the planet.

Finally, even if the motives expose above are extremely anthropocentric, it is undeniable that humans only care about their own kind, and will continue to do so; hence, it is necessary to explain how we could be affected as well, if we want us to fully understand the threats underlying in not caring about animals’ welfare.
