Have you ever heard the squeals of dying animals? Every year in the United States, 100 million animals suffer and die because of testing. I cannot endure the deaths of millions of poor animals which makes me conclude animals should not be used for testing. This also makes me conclude that animal testing is wasteful, animal testing is unnecessary, and that there are better and more accurate ways of testing medicine.

It is my belief that people think, since animals do not communicate with us, we can do anything to them. Using animals for testing is a misuse of animal lives. Furthermore, misuse of animals first started around the 4th and 3rd BCE. The great Greek physician Aristotle mostly did these animal tests. After numerous years of animal misuse, animal protection groups such as PETA have criticised scientists who do tests on animals. If we do not switch to other alternatives, we will start obtaining unreliable information about the medicine. This could expose us to medicine that could damage us vigorously, leaving us hopeless.

I believe that animal testing is wasteful of animals lives. Research indicates that 97% of animals that are tested on are killed, whereas 3% are reused for testing. Using animals for testing is inefficient. I can declare this because 95% of all drugs that are safe and effective in animal tests fail in human trials. For example, it costs around 15-20 billion dollars, around 15 years to develop a medicine that is made after being sampled on animals, they still fail in humans. Animal testing is extremely expensive, did you know 16 billion of taxpayer funds is spent on animal tests by the U.S. government annually? These examples back up my opinion by showing us how animal testing is wasteful. Unquestionably, animal testing is wasteful, resulting in unnecessary testing on animals.

There is no doubt that animal testing is unnecessary. I believe this because it is not worth the deaths of poor animals. Also, most of the medicine tested on animals never works on humans. It causes unnecessary testing and wastage of funds. Animals during testing are treated with cruelty. Animals get; force-fed chemicals, multiple surgeries are done on a singular animal, also their spines get crushed, imagine how painful that would be. Individuals that believe that animal testing is acceptable as long as we do not get harmed should change their beliefs. Study shows that  50% of animal research is never published because research failed or it did not work on humans. It lets me state that animal testing is unnecessary since there are better and more accurate ways of testing medicine.

From my point of view, there are way better and more accurate ways of testing medicine. I believe this because most research done on animals is not even published. For example, vitro testing is an exceptionally well-developed alternative to animal testing. Vitro testing is a test done outside a living organism and usually involves isolated tissues or cells. I believe that this is better than animal testing because it does not involve any sort of slaughtering or harm to people/animals. Vitro testing is better because it can provide more reliable information at a more rapid rate. This method of testing is more accurate than animal testing because it is tested on human cells, which makes the research more accurate. Another method that is better and more accurate than animal testing is computer modeling. Computer modelling is a program made from a mathematical model of a physical/biological system. Computer modelling indicates possible side effects and possible dangers to humans. This method is better because; it saves the wastage of animals, it saves a significant amount of money, and it is also 89%-98% more accurate. This method is very accurate because it calculates every potential outcome, and keeps testing until the trial is successful. According to hsi.org skin corrosion tests done in animals cost $1,800, whereas in vitro testing only costs $850. In my ending statement, these examples help back up my opinion by showing us that vitro testing and computer modeling are much better than animal testing because they are more reliable and accurate and save us a significant amount of money.

Without a doubt, animal testing is a major problem. As you can notice animal testing is wasteful of animals lives, it is unnecessary, and there are better and more accurate ways of testing medicine. If you want to play your part you could buy cruelty-free products. If we do not stop, our medicine will become immeasurably unreliable, and dangerous. My last and final message is to inform you that we should switch to other alternatives of testing medicine, this understanding can save the lives of millions of animals.
