I dreaded history in prior years, all we had were packets and worksheets and I believed that I had to memorize everything. However, by high school, I had developed an interest in this subject. The instructors went more in-depth in the topics, and I became invested in the topic. When I took Ap world history, there were various themes and packets to review, and I was initially overwhelmed, however, I gradually realized that it is more about comprehending than memorizing the occurrences and specifics. Studying American history has been a thrilling experience for me. I discovered that I enjoyed studying our country's history, how colonialism began, and how events shaped America into what it is today. Learning about the Indians/natives and the colonists at the beginning of American history is somehow fascinating. I particularly enjoyed how several documents and documentaries included groups and their perspectives on the subject rather than just one party's skewed viewpoint. I am relatively familiar with the topic, having taken US history (normal class) at the beginning of my junior year, as well as US history one the previous semester and eighth history, all of which helped me get an understanding of the subject and some background. I also took AP world history, which includes American history, thus I learned about American Indians, their ethnic groups, and their ideologies, early civilizations, documents, and laws passed that helped me better understand the current world issues and how they relate to each other. I also learned about colonization's origins, industrialization, socialism, etc. As I read the reading of unit 1 parts 1-4, I recognized that a lot of the material was stuff I had previously studied or read about, which facilitated me reinforce my recollection whilst still acquiring various new information. I learned about the events that transpired in us and how they became what nations are now in 8th-grade history class, which would also assist me to grasp the situation better. I had world geography in ninth grade, which was comparable to map tests and served to refresh my familiarity. I encountered a few difficulties whilst studying history, which included composing my essays and procrastinating then rather than reviewing my material. I would usually put postpone reviewing history packages and preparing for tests since I always managed to achieve an A without doing so. I also had difficulty putting my thoughts together and establishing a thesis because I had a lot of thoughts and details that I didn't know how to connect. It was challenging initially took some time, but I eventually grasped the concept of it and earned A's on several of my essays. I intend to extend my understanding and enhance my recollection of the actions and history that shaped America into the nation that it has become, as well as how it influences interactions between citizens, through this course. I additionally aspire to understand and examine how cultures and indigenous peoples functioned to comprehend the events that resulted in laws, conflicts, and ideas about various aspects of society. I furthermore wish to improve my reading and writing abilities. In addition, I intend to gain a deeper understanding of America's origins and our civilization.
