Application Letter: The Polytechnic University of Milan’s School of Design

Dear Sir or Madam,

I’m writing to express my desire to study for a master’s degree at the Polytechnic University of Milan’s School of Design. To be more precise, I am interested in the Communication Design course. 

I’ve been fascinated by digital art since I was a child. When I was younger, I used to do little animated clips using Microsoft Paint and Windows Movie Maker, as those were the only programmes accessible to me for the time. Given my sketching abilities and interest in digital design, it was no surprise that I chose the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts for my studies. 

During my junior year, I got the opportunity to participate in a fantastic internship at a small local printing house, where I was designing and preparing various type orders for printing. Then I was promoted to junior graphic designer and worked there for five months before I transferred to Travel Company as a multimedia designer. This job piqued my interest in other cultures and allowed me to visit several countries abroad, including Italy. I’ve done my research to ensure that this country is a perfect fit for me, especially the city of Milan. I fell in love with Milan the moment I stepped off the airport bus and saw the delightful architecture of Milano Centrale.  

In my case, the ability to navigate fast in any software, having an eye on details, and looking at things from unique perspectives helped a lot. Not only did I complete my studies successfully, but I also found excellent employment, met many interesting people, gained vital life experiences, and became a better version of myself. And I believe now is the time to leave my comfort zone and pursue my profession abroad.

I am passionate about creating visually appealing designs and bringing my creative ideas to reality. With over six years of experience in the design field, I believe this course would be an excellent complement to my development and knowledge. I have read the programme structure, and it seems extremely interesting, yet very different from what I have experienced previously in my art school. I’m impressed by how different the approach to studies can be in other countries and am very excited about it.
