Mobile phones can also be used to monitor and keep track of a student’s coursework and exam results. In this way, teachers have access at all times to a particular student and can see if that student is making progress or not (Leydon). The PA system is a thing of the past. If a student must go to the secretary or principal’s office, you can communicate with them through a text message (Leydon). Although phones should be allowed in class, the students communicate way too often with the opportunity of phones. However, critics have long warned that this non-stop barrage of news and trivia is inevitably distracting. That makes it more difficult to maintain the focused attention necessary for truly meaningful communication(Jacobs). Students themselves realize that cell phone usage does not promote learning, in one survey 80 percent of students agreed that using a mobile phone in class decreases their attention span. All in all  phones can be distractions in the classroom.

In conclusion Phones should be allowed in class for the right reasons. The right reasons include listening to music or sounds to help you work better. Also keeping up with your grades and upcoming assignments or exams. Lastly Students can now take quizzes and tests on their mobile phone that were created earlier by their teacher.  All in all phones should be allowed in class.
