Acid Rain is a form of weather in which an acidic chemical, such as sulfur, is brought down along with rain, snow, hail, etc. Acid rain is extremely dangerous, and unlike some people believe, not fake. Acid rain is a real occurrence and is very harmful to the environment There are many reasons that it occurs, and in this essay, I will go over what the problem is, the reason for the problem, and ways to stop it.

There are many problems in the world, and acid rain is one of them. Acid rain is an event that occurs when acidic substance, like sulfur, gets taken with rain and becomes acid rain. Acid rain has a pH of 3 to 4. If you do not know what pH is, it is the measurement of acid and alkaline. The higher the scale, the more alkaline. The lower the number, the more acid. The measurement is often 0-14. If the number is in between, or 6-8, then it is safer. Examples of pH are Battery acid is zero, liquid cleaner is fourteen, and distilled water is seven. Back to acid rain. Acid rain causes damage to environments and can hurt ecosystems. Most animals can be extremely injured or killed by it. It is effect on people is less severe, as people can walk through this rain like normal if there is no SO2 and NOX. If either of those substances are in place, it can damage the heart and even cause heart attacks. Acid rain damages environments and can cause trees to lose all leaves and die, animals to become sick, and damage buildings. 

Acid rain is not natural, and there are reasons for it. There are a large number of reasons for acid rain, such as greenhouse gases. The gases people release can sometimes be brought down with rain. So, overall, the cause of acid rain is gases and factories. Fossil fuels are a large portion of this. Power plants using fossil fuels. This is highly important because it means that it is possible to stop, however is extremely dangerous and will be hard to solve.

While acid rain is still out there, there are possible ways to stop it. There are three ways we could stop it that I will mention. The first is stop fossil fuel use. This would take a long time but would make acid rain stop. This would switch all gas cars to electric. Stop all greenhouse gas emissions like factories. We would have to move to complete natural energy. Another, equally hard way is world cleaning. World Cleaning (WC) is where people would cleanse the whole world of all the gases. This is incredibly hard, and WC would likely fail. The final, more possible way is to slowly convert to electric/natural energy. This would take decades and would need new tech. This is very important towards ending acid rain and all ways are possible. However, with the current technology and motivation, it would take decades.
