There were significant factors that led to the horrible aftermath and sinking of the Titanic as said in “Exploring the Titanic”, “Titanic Survivor” video and www.titanicandco.com. The RMS Titanic was an “unsinkable” ship it was built by Harland and Wolff, who had built all of the White Star Line ships, the Titanic tragically sunk on its maiden voyage after striking an iceberg. John Edward Smith the captain of the Titanic was on his last voyage, he was going to retire after he steered the titanic, however, he died on the Titanic when it sunk. Three major factors that led to the horrific aftermath and sinking of the Titanic were that the ship was “unsinkable” so they had no reason to worry about hitting an iceberg, they did not fill the 20 lifeboats enough, and the ship was unsinkable so they did not need the 64 lifeboats suggested by the manufacturer. They believed the Titanic was “unsinkable” so they should not have to worry about hitting an iceberg.

The Titanic was considered “unsinkable” therefore they should not worry about an iceberg. “Besides what danger could a few pieces of ice present to an unsinkable ship?” (Exploring The Titanic, 107, 154) This proves that they thought the Titanic was unsinkable therefore they should not have to worry about the Titanic hitting an iceberg. “The ship had watertight compartments that would allow us to float indefinitely.”(Exploring The Titanic, 105, 97) This shows that they think that they will be fine even if they do hit an iceberg. One reason that led to the terrible aftermath is that they did not fill the lifeboats enough.

One reason that contributed to the horrible aftermath is that they did not fill the life-saving lifeboats enough. “Half-empty lifeboat number 7” (Titanic Survivor, 3:12) This proves that they did not fill the lifeboats as it says “half-empty” in it. “C. Upon arriving in the U.S., he got a ton of heat for leaving the Titanic while there were still women and children on board.” (Titanic Survivor, 6:09 - 6:15) This proves that there were still people on board when he left. Another reason the aftermath of the titanic was so horrible was that there were not enough lifeboats.

One last reason is that they thought that the titanic was indestructible therefore they did not need to have enough lifeboats for everyone on board. “I cannot imagine any condition which would cause a modern ship to founder ...... Shipbuilding has gone beyond that…” (https://www.titanicandco.com/titanic/titaniclaunch.html) This proves that they thought that they did not need to have a bunch of lifeboats because it was “not going to sink”. “Sixteen lifeboats were insufficient for the crew and passengers on board. Despite Alexander Carlisle having suggested 64 lifeboats were necessary,” (https://www.titanicandco.com/titanic/titaniclaunch.html)  This proves that they did not think the lifeboats were necessary as the Titanic was “unsinkable.” There were many significant factors that led to the sinking and aftermath of the titanic.

There were significant factors that contributed to the terrifying aftermath and sinking of the Titanic three of them were that the ship was never going to sink so they had no reason to worry about hitting an iceberg, they did not fill the lifeboats all the way, and the ship was unsinkable so they did not need all the lifeboats suggested by the manufacturer. Everyone aboard the titanic was under the impression that it was unsinkable so they did not have to worry about any icebergs. They did not fill the lifeboats enough which in turn proved to be the end for most of the passengers. They did not have enough lifeboats for every ane aboard.  The Titanic was considered unthinkable but it sank and the aftermath was very tragic.
