Technological Advancement Essay Example

Technology was developed to assist humans in doing certain jobs, but contemporary technology is being utilized for much more. Because technology is changing the very way we live and exist in our society, the continuation of the human race now increasingly depends on technical advancement. As a result, I believe we should continue to evolve and advance in the face of these technologies.

The bulk of the repercussions of current technology's breakthroughs has benefited our society, as proven by how easy it is to access knowledge now or how simple it is to communicate over the world. Although anything so useful is sure to have its issues, I believe that the benefits of current technology exceed the negatives. I feel that the risk posed by technology is mainly generated by how we choose to use it, and if we weigh the contribution of technology to human comfort and pleasure, I believe it is fair to state that contemporary technology has been beneficial to humanity.

Concerning the issue of abandoning technological pursuits, it appears that the primary reason why some might desire to cease technological growth is a fear of unexpected repercussions from our decisions. However, I would argue that this conclusion is contradictory because our actions have various unexpected and unanticipated repercussions. We cannot be confident that the decision to forego future technology will result in the intended outcomes. The concept of avoiding unforeseen effects calls into question the rationale of any plan of action. In other words, seeking to avoid unintended effects does not excuse any action, especially not abandoning our technology, as future technologies may potentially lead to a safer society.

Now is this more threatening than if we stood still? history has pointed out that abandoning the pursuit of technology would rank as the worst decision ever made in the history of mankind. For example, through medical innovation and invention, scientific improvement has helped humanity overcome various plagues and diseases in a remarkable span of time. In other words, if we only maintain at our current technological level, we might survive for a while, but we would eventually destroy ourselves or be annihilated by natural disasters such as increased global warming or solar energy exhaustion. But if we keep going, we might just be able to save ourselves. Although, we must be aware of the benefits and drawbacks of future technology.  This does not warrant halting technological advancement entirely.

To summarise, I do not believe that forsaking the advancement of new technology will result in the desired outcome; while we should proceed with great caution in the advancement of technology, it’s still unclear whether restricting access to or halting the development of new technology would be the solution to this issue.
