“No country in the world can yet say they have achieved gender equality.” There is still some gender inequality in the United States and around the world, where men and women are still not equal. Women's inequality has been an issue for decades. Women are still battling inequality due to not having the same opportunities as men in the workforce for leadership positions, equal rights to wages, and proper medical care as men.

There are many reasons why women are not treated equally in the workforce. Despite 54% of women in the U.S. workforce, the number of women in leadership positions still lags. (ZIPPA) In society today, people still assume that women are the weakest of men in the leadership role. Compared to men, who hold 65% of all leadership positions, women came in at 35%. (ZIPPA) Women are needed in today's leadership roles to bring diversity, close the pay gap, and show equality within the workforce for them in leadership positions.

Males and females don’t get paid the same in many jobs. For example, in the firefighter workplace, women get paid 1.6% less than men in the same work position. Now in a teacher's workplace, women get paid $505 less than men in the same teaching position. In the principal position, women get paid 2,206 less than men. The firefighter job is a male job because it requires more strength, and the teaching job is a women’s job because women have more patience. Ultimately, men and women should have the same wages if they work the same hours and have the same qualifications.

A woman can be experiencing health problems and go to be seen by a medical provider about their medical issues to be not heard and misdiagnosed. One in five women reported feeling their symptoms were ignored by their medical provider, and 17% said they felt discrimination compared to 6% of men. (Duke Health) The medical field being gender-biased toward women has caused many women to be denied proper treatment and sometimes have long-lasting pain because their medical provider thought medical issues didn't need attentive care. According to Harvard Health, women experiencing pain are more likely to be given sedatives instead of pain medicine to manage pain. Whether it may seem like a minor or a major issue, medical providers should be able to listen to women and try to get to the root of the problem instead of dismissing them.

In conclusion women still suffer from inequality because they do not have the same managerial positions, equal privilege to compensation and access to adequate medical care as men do. Nevertheless, there is many more reasons why men and women are not treated equally but my 3 main reasons where workplace, equal wages, and medical care. At the end of the day both men and women should get treated the same because we are all human and we all bleed the same so there is no reason for the genders to be treated differently.
