Space tourism is one of the most advanced concepts of current era. It is safe to say, despite being much hype, this idea is still in its nascent stages with a long way to go before being materialized to its fullest. As the term indicates, it refers to all attempts that are aimed at travelling and exploring destinations in outer space for sake of developing tourism.  Moon seems to be on top of this list ever since this thought has hit human mind.

Keeping conspiracy theory away, even if it is assumed man reached moon, way back in late 1960’s, with all the technological advancements that have taken place since then, it is hard to digest why no other attempts were made for subsequent human visits.  This goes to show the idea of “Space Tourism” still seems to be a theoretical fantasy than something closer to reality.

When it comes to developing space technology, NASA seems to be a stand out among all its counterparts. Every year billion of dollars are spend under the supervision of best space experts available, in a bid to explore the secrets of space and hence paving way for space tourism.  Keeping in view this supremacy, there is every chance this industry is likely to be dominated by world’s super power, assuming it becomes certainty. Russia, China and others with reasonable space outfits, would find it challenging to out pace NASA in this regard.

The development and future of space tourism rests heavily on how successful various NASA missions would be.  The most famous being the ones towards red planet – MARS.  So far, even the most sophisticated space equipments have found it hard to survive the harsh conditions of this planet. Positive developments include finding traces of water, some bacterial life and so forth.

However, for developing tourist activity into space, scientists have to come up with a mechanism that would ensure safety of humans in unfavorable environment of space. There is no point in sending humans to alien conditions, without ensuring safeguard of tourists.  Despite all the efforts, so far the Man Kind hasn’t been successful in finding out unknown facts and mysteries of outer space.

Black holes, most of known planets, stars, meteors and the like, all continue to be full of secrets that are beyond the grasp of humans till date. Very little information has been gathered on them. This goes to show, space tourism, with all the charm and inquisitive nature of humans, seems to be few light years away from us, if at all. Should the universe lives long enough to see that day, it would surely be the biggest success of human race and would open.
