HTW Berlin Admission Essay

I became interested in data science after the first semester of final undergraduate year. We were dealing with social statistics and how data collected is then analysed so that policies erected can be done with enough backing from what the community had to say and lack thereof. Those first six months were thrilling and I’ve never loved going to class more than I did during that period.

The prospect of studying Data science together with project management is really interesting to be because I believe anything that requires problems to be solved can benefit from the knowledge of data science. For a project to be successful, a lot of factors are involved. Analysing data that are associated with the project can lead to a strategic approach to determining goals, achieving them and overcoming any gaps that were otherwise overlooked because of the lack of data. Data science is in essence, the surfacing on hidden insight. Data is being used in a way that will enable companies to make smarter business decisions. This coupled with project management will lead to powerful strategies aimed towards success because efficiency and effectiveness are guaranteed. 

The world of marketing runs on customer information and one needs to critically analyse this information so they can get a clear and better understanding of their customers and potential customer’s habits as to have a better chance of converting them into customers and/or returning ones. This process fascinates me. A lot. And I would like to have the opportunity to study it in-depth. I would like to believe that this passion fused with the knowledge I can gain from this degree combination will yield great results.

This degree will provide me with the opportunity to learn through practical lessons. I will learn to understand, interpret and manage projects with the data associated with them. Studying in a vibrant and multicultural city like Berlin will also prove to be ideal for networking and potential international career prospects. HTW Berlin is the perfect fit for all my aspirations. 

The opportunities that this degree will provide are endless. Our world runs on data and it is seeped into every aspect of it. Knowing how to capitalize on it and use it effectively is a skill that is not going to go away any time soon. I am very interested in acquiring these skills and strongly believe in making a difference through the means of the correct use of data. I am ready to embark on this journey with HTW Berlin leading the way.
