Why College Shouldn’t Be Affordable To Everyone

College and college degrees have value and if college is affordable to everyone college education will lose its value and purpose and nobody will be able to get a good education. If college was affordable to everyone, students could start to skip classes. Hiring would also be harder because hiring is dependent on if you have a college degree or not. Lastly social mobility would be effective because college degrees are an important mechanism for social mobility and if it didn’t have any value it would lose its importance.

College value is important and if it was devalued students would start skipping classes or not doing the work because the students aren’t getting their money's worth anymore so it wouldn’t matter if they dropped out. Students can also start to show laziness. Another thing that would happen is hiring would be very difficult because job hiring people is usually based on if you have a college degree or not. Lastly, college degrees are an important mechanism for social mobility, movement of individuals, families, or groups through a system of social hierarchy or stratification. Without the value of college degrees social mobility would be affected a lot and the world wouldn’t be the same.

Rebuttals someone might say that students wouldn’t skip class and that it is the students fault but some high school students that don’t care about school  don’t end up going to college and if those students did they would probably skip class. Second, someone might say you can find another way of hiring people other than college degrees but that would be very hard and take a long time. Lastly someone might say there are other mechanisms for social mobility but college degrees are an important part and it would be affected a lot like if there were no bees the world would be affected a lot.

In conclusion the value of college and college degrees are very important and would be affected a lot if college was affordable to everyone because students will start to skip class because they are not getting their money's worth. Hiring would be harder because college degrees play an important role. Lastly it would affect social mobility because college plays an important role for social mobility.
