50 Minutes of Friendship Essay Example

Can you become best friends within 50 minutes? A drama short film about two enemies trapped in a classroom all lunch. Will they become friends, or will they still despise each other by the end of the 50 minutes? The purpose of this 2 - 5 minute film is to entertain the audience and leave them wondering. The real question is will they be friends by the end or will their hate grow stronger? 50 minutes of Friendship.

The targeted audience for this film is younger children to teenagers as it is about friendship and drama. However, this film would mainly be for girls although some boys might enjoy it. The short film will have different scenes varying from yelling and screaming to complete silence and will make the audience more engaged with the film and the storyline. In this film, there will be many different types of shots throughout the film. An example might be when the girls first get locked in the classroom, there will be close-ups of the door and the handle and long shots and pans of the empty classroom with the girls standing in the middle, alone. Another example of shots would be the girls at the end of the film getting along at one of the girl's houses.

The two girls' names are Willow and Clare. Willow is a short brunette whilst Clare is also short but is blonde. They both attend the same school. Willow is athletic whilst Clare is a popular girl. The girls use to be best friends however had a falling out a year ago. The girls suit the genre as they have had drama and it is a dramatic film. Trapped in a classroom, a hot sweaty classroom is where most of this film is set however some is set in other places like the hall, outside the classroom and one of the girl's houses. These locations were chosen because both girls would not be in any other place together as they have had past drama and are no longer friends. This suits the drama genre because of the dramatic scenes and the girls' past. Some sounds being used in the short film would be a slow ticking clock symbolising time going by and how slow the time was going by.  This sound would be non-diegetic as the girls will not hear the sounds of the clock. Another sound used is dialogue and some sort of montage music. This would suit the genre because it will make it more suspenseful and wonder how the girls are gonna end up.

In the short film 50 minutes of friendship, there will be many different shot types to show and get the point and genre across to the audience.  When the two girls who despise each other get locked into one small, hot classroom for 50 minutes what is gonna happen, what is gonna go down? And will it really be 50 minutes of friendship?
