When reading these two articles, many things stand out. Firstly, I recognize the many practices that they note in the articles, for instance, when they recite the University of South Carolina's honor code for plagiarism, which every student should research and read. Another thing that I recognize is the statement that Bob Caslen gives does speak a lot of truth and resonance. "Trust is the most important ingredient to leadership, and when it is lost, it is nearly impossible to lead." I think this quote speaks a lot about his character and his attitude towards the situation. I do not feel that he should resign because of a simple mistake. If we are honest with ourselves, we all have plagiarized before, usually when we don't realize we are doing it. I as if he should have owned up to his mistake and kept leading the school because from what I can tell, he was a pretty good leader. The last thing about the situation from my standpoint is when you lose trust in someone, you fight and try your hardest to get it back and continue to support your people, I just feel like he took the easy way out. This brings me to how I will ensure that I will not plagiarize in class. When making forum posts and assignments, I will run them through a plagiarism checker to ensure that nothing I have composed is plagiarized. Secondly, I will cite all of my sources (If there are any). Lastly, I will ask questions to my professor if I need help with writing assignments or forums, instead of resorting to the internet.
