Hello, and welcome or welcome back to my blog. Remember in the very first blog I had told about taking a detox from social media. Well I am going to a one week detox from social media. Today is the 25th of August and my offline classes start in a week, and I wanted to get back in track with whatever I have missed. Social media has been a very huge distraction for me and I am pretty sure for you all too. So, I decided to take a break from social media, but made one exception

1. I can use WhatsApp because that’s where most of my school notes are there.

DURATION : 6 DAYS

Apps I cannot use are:

1. Instagram

2. YouTube

3. Telegram

4. Facebook

5. Twitter

I’ll draft my experience daily at the end of the day. The challenge has begun from 26th August.

Day 1: So, it is currently 6:45pm on the 26th and so far, it has been pretty fun, but I ended up burning myself out thinking that I would have a lot of spare time because I am not using social media, so I wrote a list of tasks and decided to complete it at one go, which is probably one of the biggest mistakes I did today. Mentioning this so that you guys don’t do the same mistake I did. Since I got so burnt out, I decided I would catch up with a couple of friends as in call and talk to them. Summarizing day 1, I feel it was pretty productive and I had fun too. I did have temptations, but I didn’t open any social media :)

Day 2: Today is the 28th and yesterday was pretty tiring, so I decided to end my day extremely early around 8:30pm. I don’t feel any difference today, no temptations. It was pretty fun! Hopefully the weekend would be productive because I took a break from studying yesterday!

Day 3: It is 6:45pm on the 28th and today was pretty productive. I didn’t have any temptations or anything as such. It was pretty fun and I did everything I wanted to complete today and I am pretty happy about that! I will see you tomorrow for a more productive day!!

Day 4: Today for some reason I didn’t have that of a productive of a day, it was a bit lazy and I didn’t get much work done, but that’s ok! Because everyone needs a break! Hopefully, Monday brings back my energy!!!

Day 5: Today was extremely productive and I am super proud of myself! I got done with so much work today. I am so happy that I gained back my energy and was super hyped up the entire day but super tired now! I will see you tomorrow!

Day 6: Right now, it is currently 8:25pm on the 31st of August and I would say today was a mixture of laziness + productiveness! I am super excited because I am starting offline classes tomorrow finally!! And today is also the last day of this challenge!

MY OVERALL EXPERIENCE

I have been without using Instagram for a long time, but YouTube has been something I can never stop and it has been way to addicting! Here are the 2 changes I observed.

1. Undisturbed Sleep

What do I mean by undisturbed sleep? Lately everything hasn’t been great, the offline schools reopening, exams arriving, I just keep getting weird dreams about it. You might be wondering how is social media result to this? I usually use Instagram right before sleep and I tend to come across sad news, and few things which don’t really make me happy which leads to a not so good sleep.

2. Less screen time

I used to have a 4+ hours screen time out of which 2 and a half hours would be YouTube and Instagram. Now it has reduced to 1.5–2 hours.

Q: Do I advise you to do this?

A: Definitely yes! But if its your first time I advise you to do it just for one or two days and gradually increase it. I have done this before so I tried for a week! Because if you are new and start the challenge for one week you will get demotivated and not do it again. But if you start small , you might do it again many times!

If you read till here, thank you so much!
