High School Students Should Most Certainly Have to Complete Work Experience to Graduate (Essay Sample)

I believe that high school students should have to complete work experience to graduate. Because of the imperfect education structure, most academically "successful" students rely completely on the continuous hours of studying both at home and in the classroom, believing entirely that this is the only way to achieve a better, happy life when in fact they are giving up their chance of living. Although this may land them into their desired university or even job, soon after, they will find themselves lost within the expectations of the real world not only in the workplace but also in society as a whole. Once considered gifted individuals are cruelly tossed from the hands of classic schooling, which they had trusted all their life to keep them afloat, into a cold, unfamiliar sea where they are now told they will spend what is left of their life. 

High school students are often taught that their job as of then is to focus entirely on their studies and not to get a job yet in order to ironically, get a job. How do these supposed grown-ups expect these innocent children to follow through on such a toxic, paradoxical dream? The contradictions lining up beneath these unasked for words of advice are so plainly obvious and yet so commonly brushed off and ignored. How could a simple child possibly excel in areas that they have only heard of from various lectures when they have been practising only from books? These children are chasing a goal that they have not even seen first hand. No matter the talent, a 2D man simply cannot live in a 3D world.

Most of a student's life is spent staring at small printed text whilst confined by four closely spaced walls. Yes, education is important to an individual looking for a proper future however a clear, perhaps way more important factor to success is the skill of building relationships. Everywhere in the tall world, you will need to build relationships with real people, whether it is your boss, your co-workers or just your friends. In order to remain in a satisfiable place on the social ladder, which defines the outcome of all the effort an individual has gambled their life with, creating and maintaining useful relationships with pretty much everyone is unavoidable if they do not want to avoid their dream lifestyle. How will anyone even begin to associate with such a ladder when all they are given to socialise with are their textbooks. All the potential that individual was given is now wasted on the same resources they placed the heavy weight of their future on not knowing it was only a cloth.

In conclusion, high school students should most certainly have to complete work experience to graduate because as much as anyone would want to excel at subjects they have not even been given the opportunity to try, they will spend only all of their future years regretting what they could've spent their learning years actually learning.
