Have you ever been to the bottom of the sea? Since about a month ago, I no longer feel anxious about the deep parts of the sea. My brother and I took our first scuba diving lesson last month in the Black Sea. Life and God's nature became clear to me from a whole new perspective.

For spring break, my brother and I headed to the beach to have some fun before school began. We drove to the Black Sea from Odesa, Ukraine. It was a long drive. A commotion and the swooshing of vehicles nearby made it difficult for me to sleep. After we refueled, I looked around at the radiant lights of a nearby gas station. After quite some time in the dark, I was finally able to see. Afterward, my brother and I decided to get 2 dollar churros from the concession stand near the gas pumps.

The day was still dark as we were halfway through our drive, but the sun was rising from the east. My eyes quickly closed as we entered the suite since I hadn't slept all night. I was woken up by my father at noon and instructed to get ready for a swimming lesson. My excitement was great as I changed into my swimming shorts and darted out of the hotel. Seeing a white-throated robin fly across the sea was a beautiful sight as I ran along the beach. I jumped in feet’s first. It was pleasantly warm in the water. As I watched, an instructor taught a couple in scuba diving gear how to swim. Inquiring if it were okay to join them, I swam over. I was asked to take the scuba diving equipment from the back of his car. After fitting into a size small, My brother and I headed back to the water.

After reuniting with the group, we were asked to dip our heads into the water but stand on the surface. My confusion stemmed from the fact that I thought we were supposed to swim out of the gate. We were taught how to breathe with our snorkels. It was crystal clear , and I saw fish I had never seen before in my life, as well as beautiful reefs on the ocean floor. After I picked my head back up, I realized that this was not so frightening after all. We used rafts to help us swim deep into the sea. Without instruction or safety, I was able to scuba dive after swimming for 20 minutes. Taking my first dive into the sea was one of the most breathtaking experiences of my life. I swam until I seen enough scenery and headed back to the shore. Tired and rejoiced, I hugged my dad as he congratulated me on my new achievement.
