Persuasive Essay Sample on Hairstyle in School

Teachers are allowed to wear their hair in their own comfort, so why can't students do the same? Almost every school on the island does not allow any type of hairstyle to be worn at school.  They claim it to be a  distraction and it makes the school look bad.

For a lot of students , their hairstyle is a part of their identity. For some,  hairstyles of their choice make them confident. Children should be able to wear their own hairstyles to express themselves.  It is vital that students are comfortable in their own hair. It is culturally disrespectful towards people of color that certain people with different hair types can wear their hair however they want and the other hair types cannot.

Some boys want to wear their hair long or tall, which is not allowed in school. In modern society boys should be permitted to have long or tall hair in school and should not be forced to conform this archaic tradition.  Not only is the rule outdated but it is also biased against boys. 

As for girls, they should be allowed to get different styles. Having  different hairstyles would allow each of them to be able to show how they are feeling and how they are meant to be different.  Edges are also looked at as a distraction by staff, while the girls see it ti be creative and artistic expression of hair.

Forcing someone to change the appearance of their hair in order  to make them fit in an opinion-based criteria is offensive.  Hairstyles do not determine whether they students will pass or not. I believe once they keep their hair neat it should not be a problem.
