When I first started my internship with Ericsson in the summer of 2021, Mrs. Vidya Krishnan Vidya last name , Chief Learning Officer at the head of Global Learning and Development for Ericsson, whom I job shadowed, walked me through several steps of boarding and made it a smooth experience for me.

I was the one who patiently walked me through my tasks, allowed me to shadow her, and helped me with job formalities, like how to schedule meetings and order my computer. Through the time that I have known her, I have adored her and am inspired by her work ethic, dedication, patience, and leadership within her department and the organization within all aspects of her job. When I sat in on meetings with her and clients, I learned professionalism and got to see the final result of so many hours of her planning. Not only did she introduce me to the corporate world of IT in an intriguing way, she also created a welcoming environment for me and other college interns that just got recruited. My time with her so far has been so incredible and she has taught me what it takes to be a leader: having patience, listening skills, dedication, optimistic mindset, and passion for what I do. Her mantra, is that the only person you need to be better than is the person that you were yesterday, and this has really stuck with me. It epitomizes the continuous growth I have experienced as a part of the Senate and I would love to keep growing my experience as a leader. Mrs. Vidya continues to inspire me and be a person that I look up to with the various innovations that she comes up with and the leadership she exemplifies to everybody.

As Mrs. Vidya mentioned, in order to be a successful leader, you need to have a passion for what you do. I have this passion for the Senate. This passion for the Senate will allow me to flourish as a impactful great leader in this wonderful organization. Some goals that I will commit to inclusiveinclude the incorporation of all ideas into decision making, avoid formation of cliques, maintenance of a supportive, encouraging, and optimistic environment, and the delegation of responsibilities equally. I really want to be able to incorporate and hear all of the ideas of the Senators in order to make well-informed decisions about various events and item purchases. This can ensure that we plan the best event possible or utilize the budget in the most efficient way possible. By maintaining a welcoming environment within the Senate, we can warrant the utmost success and participation from all the Senate members. This is crucial to the success of the organization because 30 minds are much better than 1 and this can also promote the formation of strong lifelong relationships between individuals in a non-judgemental setting. Lastly, standardizing tasks and delegating responsibilities equally can help reduce stress of those who may overexert themselves with daunting Senate tasks, like if one person has to reach out to all of the Stay Day vendors by themselves, for example. It can also promote the involvement of all Senators into all activities, so everybody would feel both included and informed.
