What Was Socrates' Goal In Life?

I accept that most people don't discover delight in being wrong. I also found that when another person publicly confessed their lies, they would be even more annoying. This was the situation back in 399 BC when Greek scholar, Socrates, tried to discover the reality of things and was charged, indicted, and condemned to death. Since Socrates submitted nothing to paper, the only glimpse we have of his life is through the writing of others, mainly those of his student, Plato, who recorded Socrates' trial in a series of dialogues known as The Apology. 

So in some sense, Socrates’ defense in the Apology was in fact a defense of philosophy. In particular, the Apology of Socrates is a guard against the charges of " corrupting the young" and "not having faith in the divine beings in whom the city accepts, however indifferent daemons that are novel" to Athens. Socrates did have one good defense in the Apology.  At the trial for his life in 399 BC, Socrates' protection is related to Plato's Apology. Here Socrates showed up, notwithstanding his extensive protection, not to clear himself from all allegations, but instead to intentionally guarantee that he would be seen as liable and in this way sentenced to death. Socrates made one main argument which was to consider the charges against as false accusations. And in order to defend himself against these false accusations, Socrates calls on Meletus, who was his principal accuser, and interrogates him in a familiar form of the elenchus, or cross-examination. If Socrates has such a terrible influence on the youth of Athens, Socrates proceeds to ask, what is it that has a good influence on the youth of Athens?

According to Socrates, there was a true reason behind the charges that put on him. And according to him, Socrates explains that his questioning method is often imitated by young people who follow him around. Socrates suggests that this may be one of the reasons he is being brought up on charges of corruption. Another reason is that Socrates has questioned his accusers and they are upset with him because he has suggested that they only pretend to have the wisdom or they are ignorant of their lack of wisdom. Socrates utilizes the thinking abilities to protect himself against the charges set forth by Meletus. He utilizes the direct questioning technique to show that the charges themselves are conflicting. Based on the defense and philosophy one relation that one can draw is that Socrates had one main goal or objective to his life. And that main goal at least according to “ ScienceDirect.com”  was “ to examine people's ethical beliefs in order to improve the way they live; his method for doing this was what philosophers call “conceptual analysis”.”  This was because Socrates believed in the fact that philosophy should achieve practical results for the better well-being of society. As he attempted to establish an ethical system based on human reason rather than based on the theological doctrine.
