Why College Should Be Free Argumentative Essay Example

Do you ever find yourself worrying about student loans, when you're going to pay it off, how the chance of going to college is possible considering money conditions? Well, if college were free that wouldn't have to be a priority. College has always had cost towards it, students worry and lose hope of college which is hard for someone so young, So college should be free in the US because there will be more job opportunities for people, pressure on the students will go down while mental health issues will decline, there will be more of a skilled workforce, less financial struggles and students would have more time for school.  

There are many examples for why college should be free so here are a couple of reasons. For instance, there will be more opportunities for students. College gives students the chance to volunteer, take part in campus events, and graduate into higher paying jobs. Students drop out and lose the opportunities they have set up because of the loans they have made. Not only but students' mental health issues will decline from worrying about debt. This makes students get all caught up in the debt which gives them anxiety, depression, and feelings of shame, while they're still expected to worry about school work. 

Companies would also have more of a skilled, organized workforce. When students go to college that's where they find their passion and creativity for a job. If people aren't going to college their minds won't be sparked and it could affect the lives of people and the way companies are run if they don't have well-educated people working for them. It is also known that people from low-income families don't attend college, so what they do is enroll in college so they can make a change in their lives but the cost is what makes it incredibly hard for them to commit to it so it makes it easier for people from high-income families to pursue what they want. 

If college were to be free, more people wouldn't be financially struggling. For example, college students are constantly worried about money like paying for college books, a dorm room, transportation, and personal appliances, all of this in addition to college tuition. This builds up so much debt if they are not able to pay it off and college becomes not fun at all. Students would also have more time for school if they didn't need to pay for college. Most people seek part-time jobs while attending school, not leaving enough time for a break to relax. 

A common argument against this position is that college should have a cost towards it so the school can pay for  high-quality campus conditions. But in reality, if there were more fundraisers and put in effort to get more money from the government they could still have a great quality campus. 

Therefore colleges need to be free or at least more affordable so that students can attend college with less worry, debt, and stress. This topic is important because it can build the minds of people attending college in America, giving them more chances, opportunities, and creativity in their lives, knowing that fewer students is important and it should be to the universities as well.
