How It Is to Be a Manager At Amazon Warehouse (Free Essay Sample)

My previous employer was a manager at amazon's warehouse. To be a manager at Amazon, you must first have responsibility. Having responsibility includes showing up for work on time, making sure everyone is doing their job right, helping new people learn, fixing machines if something were to go on, and making sure everybody is dressed properly. There are many other things now that we will get into about being a manager for amazon starting with planning.  
Planning  
Planning things out is one of the most important things about this job. You are required to make a board at the beginning of the shift showing where everyone will be working. You will also be required to get the phones and scanners ready making sure they are charged. You must then figure out what time the trucks are coming at making sure there are no delays. After that, you will have to come up with a plan of which way would be easiest to get it done in the time you are given. Then, you have to find out a time that everyone will go on break. You cannot go on break until the trucks are unloaded. Once all that is done you are all good to go. I believe Amazon does a very great job at planning. Another big role of being a manager at amazon is leading.  
Leading  
As a leader, you must have communication skills. Communication skills are very important because you need to state your commands or thoughts clearly so then your employees will have a good understanding of what they are doing/ will be doing. Being a manager at Amazon, you must also be very positive and inspirational. Being positive and inspirational will not only make the work get done but buy you are also building relationships and making people want to come to work.   
Organizing  
The organization is another huge part of working at amazon's warehouse. Like I said previously, you must create a board at the beginning of the shift saying where everyone will be working so it doesn't cause confusion or lead to an injury. Also, you must make sure all the isles are clear of boxes or packages. You must also make sure that your workers are doing their jobs correctly not making a huge mess. You must also explain to them every time you scan a package a light will glow up of where it should be and you must scan the inside so you know it's 100% the right spot. The organization is a very big role at amazons' warehouse but on to our next step which is another major one is controlling.  
Controlling  
To be a manager at almost every single job, you must have control of your employees. Having control is the number 1 key to finishing on time and getting the job done right. When an employee is to fail at the job, it is your responsibility to do it and show them how it's done. You must state the rules to them every day of what to do and what to not do. You must also explain to them what their job is for the day. As a manager, you will help everyone who needs it so it doesn’t mess up the flow you had originally planned.  
Leadership Style   
The leadership style employed by the manager is an affirmative management style. An affirmative management style is to promote harmony and connection to your staff. This style is very effective for supervising their employees because they create a bond of trust in their employees. I feel like amazon does that and it’s the best kind of manager you can have.
